Take part in a workshop on Environmental Justice

Friends of the Earth is going to be at this year's Community Development Exchange (CDX) Conference.

CDX works to ensure that community development is recognised and supported to tackle inequality and achieve social justice.

The Back to the Future Conference will address issues around the new empowerment White Paper, 'Communities in Control'.

Taking back control

Friends of the Earth Rights and Justice Team will be running a workshop on Environmental Justice.

This will look at how communities can take control of local development issues and hold public authorities to account.

There will be a focus on the 3 key environmental rights and how to use them:

  • The right to know -
    explaining Freedom of Information laws
  • The right to participate -
    demystifying the planning system
  • The right to challenge -
what you can do if the authorities let you down

Participants will be able to:

  • Develop a positive vision for their community
  • Explore practical steps to achieve Environmental Justice
  • Get more information and support

Who can go to the Conference?

Whether you're a community worker, in the voluntary sector, an activist, studying or just interested in these issues, you can come along.

When and where?

The CDX Conference will be held in Sheffield on Monday 13th - Tuesday 14th October.

Our Environmental Justice workshops will be held on Tuesday.

Visit the CDX website for more information about the Conference and how to book your place.
