Working with young peopleShout about activity weeksShout about is Friends of the Earth’s annual activity week, for 11 – 13 year olds. Schools and youth clubs register to receive a pack full of fantastic activities, including visual resources, a competition and prize. In 2007 the activity week took place from 5-9 November and focussed on solutions to climate change. Read the local group review. Dates for 2008 have yet to be confirmed. Schools and youth clubs are encouraged to join up with local Friends of the Earth groups to bring in the local dimension to learning about environmental issues. As a local group member on joining the Youth and Education network you will automatically receive the pack and information on training opportunities. If you are not already a network member but are interested in becoming one, please see the network joining information. For teachers and youth workers the pack will be available from our learning website or by calling 020 7490 1555. You can download previous packs and find out what happened last year by reading stories from those that took part on the learning website. We have designed a template press release for you to make use of in order to publicise your Shout about activities in the local media. Photographs of Shout about activities are always gratefully received. However if you are taking photographs, please make sure that photo consent forms are filled out for all participating students. |
