Fundraising

This page lists various methods of raising funds for your local group. There is also a Guide to Fundraising (PDF - 81K) which was included in the June/July 2004 issue of the Change Your World newsletter.

Local Group Support Fund (LGSF)

The Local Groups Support Fund is open to all licensed Friends of the Earth groups and networks; it is intended to provide financial support that can make a real difference, either to the development of your group or in its campaigning.

The amount available to groups through the Fund has tripled this year so there has never been a better time to apply. Applications have been divided into smaller (less than £150) and larger ( between £150 and £1,500) grants.

A fundraising advice line operates on the first Wednesday of each month. On this day you will be able to both receive one-to-one help on general fundraising / applying for the Support Fund and have an opportunity to make applications to the Small Fund over the telephone. For advice on the Local Group Support Fund, call the Local Group Development Coordinator on 020 7566 1676, and for advice on all other fundraising matters call Carole Zagrovich on 01642 459171.

If you want to consider applying for the Fund please read the guidelines linked below which explain what your group needs to consider if it wishes to apply.

For general advice on how to apply the Local Groups Support Fund and other fundraising support listed below contact the Activist Information Officer on 0207 566 1677 or email localgroups@foe.co.uk .

Many local groups have found the need to hire specialists as part of their campaign work - we've therefore put together some written guidance on hiring consultants and experts which should prove useful .

Start-up grant

New groups can apply for a £100 grant, to be used on hiring meeting space, photocopying etc.

Collecting tins, stickers and labels

These are to help with fundraising. We can send you the required materials and advice on effective fundraising. A fundraising summary sheet is planned and in the future we hope that Co-ordinators will be kept informed when street fundraisers are in their area.

Trading catalogue

This collection of environmental friendly gift ideas for local groups to sell to the public is an excellent way of raising revenue and profile in your local community. The catalogue is available online. Contact our Supporter Services Unit on 020 7490 1555 to place an order. New groups receive a £20 gift voucher for trading goods.

Other Ideas

You can always ask on the message boards for other people's ideas. Don't forget to add your own suggestions so that others can benefit.

Unless stated otherwise, contact the Activist Information Officer for any of these resources or advice on 020 7566 1677.
