Regional Transport Strategy

A Regional Transport Strategy is an important document published by the Government Region for your area. It sets out the plans for the future development of the transport system in your region.

The Regional Transport Strategy for the North East is included in the submission draft of the Regional Spatial Strategy. (Theme 3D - Improving Connectivity within and beyond the region).

Regional Transport Strategy

A Regional Transport Strategy is an important document published by the Government Region for your area. It sets out the plans for the future development of the transport system in your region.

The Regional Transport Strategy for the North West forms part of the submission draft of the Regional Spatial Strategy which is due to be handed to ODPM in January 2006.

The current Regional Transport Strategy is included within the Regional Planning Guidance for the region.

Regional Transport Strategy

A Regional Transport Strategy is an important document published by the Government Region for your area. It sets out the plans for the future development of the transport system in your region.

The new Regional Transport Strategy for Yorkshire and the Humber will be submitted, as part of the draft Regional Spatial Strategy, to ODPM in December 2005.

The current Regional Transport Strategy is contained within the existing Regional Spatial Strategy.

In Wales, draft local transport plans will be published by the Regional Consortia during 2006. There will then follow a period of consultation with the final plans due to be published in the Summer of 2007.

Northern Ireland

Local transport

Local transport in Northern Ireland is the responsibility of the Department for Regional Development.

In 2002 , they produced their Regional Transportation Strategy 2002-2012.

The following transport plans will focus on how the delivery of the Regional Transportation Strategy is to happen:

Belfast Metropolitan Transport Plan
Regional Strategic Transport Network Transport Plan
Sub-regional Transport Plan - this covers local transport planning outside the Belfast Metropolitan Area. A draft version of the plan will be published in March 2006. You will be able to get involved in the consultation process during 2006.
