Rights & Justice - what's it all about?

Environmental rights allow people to influence decisions that affect them and their environment. Having a strong system of environmental rights is not enough on its own though. People must be empowered to use these rights.

It is often the case that people who are experiencing bad environmental problems are less able to deal with them. Recognising this trend and working with communities to address these issues helps us to achieve Environmental Justice.

Friends of the Earth campaigns to defend and extend the public's right to:

• Access environmental information
• Participate in the land-use planning system
• Have access to to the law
