Campaign for better rules

image of supermarket development

The competition authorities are currently investigating supermarkets. This gives us a great chance to get rules put in place to protect communities, local shops, farmers and the environment.

In January the Competition Commission published their interim Emerging thinking report . In this report they recognised several potential problems related to supermarket dominance.

The next stage of this inquiry is crucial. Action is urgently needed to control the power of the supermarkets. We must urge them to investigate the things that really matter. After all, who wants cheap food if it’s at the expense of people and the planet?

Take action

  1. Write to the Competition Commission using our quick email action.

  2. Write to your MP to tell them your concerns about plans to weaken planning rules - which might allow even more supermarket development.

These actions target the Competition Commission and the Government with a focus on the Government's Planning White Paper - which could result in rules that make it even easier for supermarkets to get built.
